Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

Butch Cassidy and Sundance the Kid are leaders of the Hole-in-the-Wall gang, a band of men who rob banks and trains. But when they discover one day after robbing a train in which they use a little too much dynamite, that a special posse go after them. Their gang flees but it's obvious that the posse are only after Butch and Sundance when they don't follow the gang. And although the pair have no idea who those guys are, as Butch keeps on saying, the posse keeps on trailing them everywhere they go. After Butch and Sundance jump off the very high cliff into the water and lose the posse, they go to visit Etta Place, a young schoolteacher who is Sundance's lover. Later they earn that the posse is being paid to stay together until they kill Butch and Sundance. So they decide to leave the country and go to Bolivia. But it's not at all what they expect; the village being so small and the difficulty in learning to speak Spanish to carry out a robbery. One of my favorite westerns, with some great lines and humor mixed in, this film is wonderful fun. Newman and Redford are both terrific. Starring Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Katharine Ross, Strother Martin, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, George Furth 9/10
