William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996)

DiCaprio plays Romeo and Danes plays Juliet, the star-crossed lovers who meet when Juliet's father holds a party at his mansion. They instantly fall in love until they realize that they're families are sworn enemies, fighting a violent war in the modern day suburb of Verona Beach. Adding to their conflict is Dave Paris, the dashing eligible bachelor whom Juliet's mother Gloria wants Juliet to court with and Tybalt, Juliet's vicious cousin who is out for revenge. A terrific and intense film; Shakespeare's famous play gets a hip update in this remake of the 1968 version. The two leads are fantastic as the doomed lovers, as well as the supporting cast. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes, John Leguizamo, Harold Perrineau, Pete Postlethwaite, Paul Sorvino, Brian Dennehy, Paul Rudd, Jesse Bradford, M.
