Character Spotlight: Loretta Castorini

Loretta Castorini is an accountant living in Brooklyn, New York with her Italian family. She has been a widow for seven years after her husband died in a tragic bus accident. Now currently she's engaged to Johnny Cammareri, who knew her husband. When he leaves to tend to his dying mother, Loretta is asked to contact his younger brother Johnny and invite him to their wedding. However on meeting Ronnie, who has had his share of misfortune and heartbreak, she finds herself making a connection with him. Portrayed by Cher (in an Oscar-winning role) in the 1987 film Moonstruck, Loretta Castorini is a strong character who believes that when it comes to love, life hasn't been too lucky for her, until an unlikely man comes into her life to change everything.

Cher plays Loretta Castorini, an independent, feisty Brooklyn Italian widow who agrees to marry an older but rather childish man named Johnny, then finds herself falling for his tortured, angry younger brother Ronnie, whom when his fiancee found out that he got his hand caught in a bread slicer, she left him for another man. A light and very funny romantic comedy, with a great supporting cast and hilarious lines of dialogue. Starring Cher, Nicolas Cage, Olympia Dukakis, Vincent Gardenia, Danny Aiello Rated PG 10/10
