Character Spotlight: Jack Torrance
Jack Torrance, a recovering alcoholic trying to be a good husband and family man despite his violent temper, is a school teacher looking for some peace and quiet to write his novel. The perfect opportunity comes up when he's offered the job to look after The Overlook Hotel, a gigantic resort hotel in breathtaking Colorado for the winter. So he, along with his wife Wendy and son Danny drive up to the hotel to stay. However Jack develops a serious case of writer's block, and as he stays at the hotel, he is seemingly possessed by dark forces haunting the hotel. First introduced in Stephen King's novel "The Shining", Jack was portrayed later on by the incomparable Jack Nicholson in the film directed by Stanley Kubrick. Jack Torrance is like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode and is by far one of the most psychotic characters to ever grace the silver screen.
