The place is Haddonfield Illinois, the time is Halloween, 1963. Judith Myers is stabbed to death by her six year-old brother Michael. Michael is institutionalized but fifteen years later he ends up escaping and comes back to Haddonfield on Halloween to terrorize some babysitters including high-schooler Laurie Strode, who gets increasingly concerned when she keeps seeing Myers everywhere she goes. Meanwhile psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis follows Michael to Haddonfield, determined to stop him from killing anymore people.
